Emergency First Aid
This EFAW training covers all of the required elements of first aid training for adults and children, including resuscitation and AED use. It equips your team to respond appropriately to both minor and severe incidents and injuries that they might encounter in their workplace. It extends beyond the reach of standard first aid training to explore from a trauma-informed perspective the role of a first aider in residential care, such as responding to injuries and accidents in the context of a children’s home.

An Introduction to Trauma Informed Care in Children's Homes
This one-day course is an interactive journey into understanding the impact of developmental trauma, exploring the core principles of Trauma Informed Practice and practical exploration of the concepts of love, affection, acceptance, aspiration and empathy. The workshop describes the theory but focuses on relating the concepts to practice – including the value of self- awareness and reflective practice. We discuss the impact of the role on the carers as they travel alongside the young people in their care.

Safeguarding Children in Residential Care
This training covers awareness of forms of abuse including CCE, CSE, radicalisation and honour- based violence, signs and indicators. We discuss the evolution of Safeguarding legislation in England through the stories of individual children over time, exploring how safeguarding systems have developed to the present day. We consider the unique role of the residential practitioner in contextual safeguarding – including how professional curiosity and relationship- building can help protect children without unnecessarily restricting their autonomy and developmental needs.

Working with Self Harm and Suicidal Ideation in Residential Childcare
This half-day training encourages reflection and learning around the motivations, positive intention and support of young people who harm themselves. It opens discussion on supporting young people to explore these ideas as they work collaboratively to manage their feelings and behaviours more safely. It combines elements of trauma informed practice, first aid and therapeutic caring training and includes input directly from young people.

Record Keeping in Residential Care
This half-day training encompasses the dual purpose of keeping records within the care system - balancing the need for compliance and professional communication with the responsibility for creating a lasting legacy of each child’s story. The practical, informative training is followed by a paperwork review, providing a written report and recommendations for development and 3-month check-in review.

Relational Management
We explore interview and application processes, supervision skills, recognising the impact of working with traumatised people and the complexities of managing a diverse team towards a common purpose. Adults who are psychologically safe and aligned with the purpose and culture of the home are adults who stay in their roles, providing consistent and resilient relational care to children. We explore the application of DDP PACE and DDP principles to the role and responsibilities of leaders in the sector. Delivered over 3 learning hours in person or via Microsoft Teams
Values Based Recruitment in Residential Care
This full-day workshop is designed for leaders and management teams setting out to recruit a new care team, or who are developing their existing recruitment processes. We consider the role of shared values in recruitment and consider how these can be explored and identified throuh the recruitment process. We create a set of questions, scenarios and screening tools that meet the needs and values of your home.
