Our DDP PACE training
DDP PACE: A stance, not a technique.
Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP), Developed by clinical psychologist Dan Hughes in the 1990s, is a therapeutic approach rooted in attachment theory, intersubjectivity, and developmental trauma research. It was designed to support children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or disrupted attachments by emphasising safety, trust, and connection in relationships.
PACE is the relational stance at the heart of DDP, guiding adults to connect with a child’s inner world rather than simply manage behaviour. In residential childcare, DDP and PACE provide a framework for understanding how trauma shapes development and relationships, embedding therapeutic caregiving into everyday interactions across the whole team.
By fostering emotional safety and consistency, they help children experience trust, co-regulation, and the possibility of developing secure attachments within the context of group living.
Learning Opportunities
E-Learning
Our eLearning course offers a flexible, self-paced way to develop essential skills and knowledge from anywhere, at any time. Through interactive modules, real-life case studies, and practical exercises, learners gain a deep understanding of the subject matter while applying it directly to their work. Designed for engagement and accessibility, this course allows participants to learn at their own pace, track their progress, and revisit content as needed. Ideal for individuals and teams looking to enhance professional practice and embed learning into daily routines.
Face to Face
Our face-to-face course provides an immersive, hands-on learning experience designed to engage participants fully. Through interactive discussions, practical exercises, and real-life scenarios, learners develop essential skills and confidence that can be applied immediately in their work. Facilitated by experienced trainers, this course encourages collaboration, reflection, and peer learning, creating a supportive environment where participants can explore concepts, ask questions, and practice new approaches. Ideal for teams or individuals seeking a dynamic, in-person learning experience that embeds knowledge and strengthens professional practice.
Fully Certificated
All our courses and workshops are fully certificated, providing participants with formal recognition of their learning and achievements. Each programme is designed not only to deliver practical skills and knowledge but also to ensure that participants leave with a tangible credential to demonstrate their professional development. Whether completed online or in-person, certification reflects the quality and rigor of the training, supporting career progression, enhancing professional practice, and providing confidence in applying learning in real-world settings.
Remote learning
If face-to-face learning isn’t possible, our courses, qualifications, and workshops can be fully adapted for remote learning. Designed to be engaging and interactive, our online programmes allow participants to access high-quality training from anywhere, while still benefiting from expert facilitation, practical exercises, and collaborative discussions. Whether working individually or as a team, learners can achieve the same learning outcomes, gain full certification, and apply their new skills with confidence, all from the convenience of a remote setting.
Career Development
Our focus is to ensure that training is meaningful, practical, and directly usable in daily practice. We aim to equip care teams with the right resources, knowledge, and skills to perform their roles effectively and confidently. Through tailored training, workshops, and professional development opportunities, we support carers in building their expertise and enhancing their practice. By investing in staff development, providers can build empowered, skilled teams that consistently deliver high-quality care and positive outcomes for the children and young people in their homes.
Real support networks
We aim to create a space for like-minded professionals who are navigating the many challenges of residential childcare. As experienced childcare practitioners, registered managers, and Responsible Individuals, we understand how isolating residential work can feel. We want to change that. Our initiative actively encourages and supports real support networks, providing opportunities for connection, shared learning, and peer support. By fostering these networks, we help professionals feel supported, less isolated, and better equipped to deliver high-quality care.
